Quaalup Homestead

Quaalup Homestead
Quaalup Homestead Wilderness Retreat 77kms East of Jeramungup.  It was built in 1858 for free ranged cattle and sheep as well as being an outpost.  The homestead changed a few hands but once the main road was built from Jeramungup to Albany the homestead was deserted.  It was later restored and since used as a wilderness retreat, an impression of early settlement days.

Edna the Emu
The highlight of our stay was Edna the Emu.  She was very friendly.  You could tell when she was close  to us, as she had a deep drum like bom bom.

Grey Kangaroos
The local grey kangaroos were also very friendly, but from a distance as they are still wild animals.

Camp Fire
Our second camp fire on our trip.  Dad always makes sure we stayed a safe distance from the fire. After dinner we toasted marshmallows on the fire with a very long stick.
